Cloud Operations Engineer

Job Description: 

The QiO Product Team is looking for a Cloud Operations Engineer to join us as soon as possible in the development of cloud-based applications using the latest cloud native application development patterns.


You have demonstrable technical experience with cloud operations, management and delivery of software deployments, release management, configuration management and monitoring of Cloud services to agreed Service levels under the guidance of the Team Lead. 
You will provide integrated tools, processes and organisation to build Cloud services covering the convergence of IaaS and PaaS technologies to software development teams. Building and effective leadership of CloudOps team. 


This position can be based in any one of our global locations, however please note that QiO are not able to provide support for relocations or visa applications. You therefore must already hold the appropriate residency and right to work.

We are head quartered in the UK (Farnborough) but we also have presence Canada (Toronto), the US (Raleigh / Miami), India (Pune) and most recently in Singapore.

  • Participate in the daily CloudOps infrastructure scrum call and work with project and development managers as required ensuring work are prioritised and actioned 
  • Ensuring CloudOps processes and tools are utilised 
  • Collaborate with QiO Developers, Customer IT and Cloud provider teams 
  • Ensure monitoring, management and control of all Cloud IaaS, PaaS and Application services to meet and exceed customer service level agreements and cost targets 
  • Apply advanced technical knowledge and skills in developing solutions or problem solving where complexity, innovation and technical expertise are required 
  • Maintain current Cloud operation trends and identify strategic business implications 
  • Delivers reliable and scalable Cloud based PaaS and Application services to development teams 
  • Partner with Software Development teams to implement future technology strategy, tools, processes and improvements 
  • With the Team Lead, own the architecture and delivery of Cloud in a Box solutions to customers, ensuring CiaB offerings are integrated and managed by an integrated set of tools and processes 
  • Commitment to provide world-class support 24x7x365, working out of hours where required to support P1 issues. 
  • Must be fluent in English
  • Motivated self-starter
  • Demonstrable experience in building a multi-tenant platform and infrastructure as a service
  • Solid knowledge of AWS platform and its services
  • Experience in Cloud operations, compute engineering, automation, architecture and implementation
  • Agile and scrum
  • Technical skills with DevOps tools
  • Cloud operations/service desk and DevOps management
  • Proven ability to lead change across large platforms / functional areas using innovative technology solutions
  • Exceptional communication, negotiating and influencing skills at all levels
  • Demonstrated customer focus
  • Strong analytical and problem-solving skills
  • AWS, Kubernetes, Rancher, Docker
  • Physical infrastructure such as Cisco or HP hardware
  • Back-up / restore
  • Experience with firewalls, Sophos would be advantageous

Work experience with industrial clients, oil & gas, marine, aerospace and manufacturing preferred. 


Bachelor's degree in Computer Science, Information Management or experience in developing, implementing and maintaining large scale Cloud Operations teams and operational processes. 
An advanced degree in Computer Science and knowledge of mechanical and / or electrical system.
